We sat down with each member of the 2026 Handsling Alba roster and let them do the talking: where they've come from, what drives them, a few things you probably didn't expect to find out and finishing off with some of their top tips for aspiring cyclists.

The Journey So Far

Tell us about your early years — where did you grow up?

I grew up in Edinburgh, we were a very active family and I participated in almost every sport possible in primary and early secondary school.

How did you get into cycling? Who inspired or helped you along the way?

While I was mainly a runner growing up, I always cycled with my family on the weekends and for holidays. I started to not enjoy running so much so tried a local crit race. I remember being dropped off the line and lapped by the whole field. But my dad and some family friends persuaded me to keep trying. I felt a big weight lifted off my shoulders as the expectations were so low, I just enjoyed it. 

Tell us about the teams and clubs you were part of as a youth.

I raced for Edinburgh Athletic Club growing up which was a big part of my childhood, training most days with my friends. When I moved to cycling I started with Edinburgh Road Club which was a perfect environment for a new cyclist. 

Tell us more about your cycling career to date — teams, clubs, and any highlights. When did you join Handsling Alba, and how did that come about?

The first big stepping stone of my career was joining Storey Racing, it was such an honour to be supported by such a good team while I had very few results to my name. They provided the support I needed to progress in the sport, and I got some strong results in that environment. Subsequently I joined Cams Basso in which I got to race my first Tour of Britain which was a big milestone in my cycling journey. 

When did you join Handsling Alba and how did that come about?

I joined Handsling Alba in 2023. I knew Bob well for years and he was one of the key instigators at the beginning of my cycling career, he always had a lot of belief in me as a rider. So I knew I wanted to join Alba at some point, especially being Scottish too, and the 2023 season was the right time for me with the team becoming Continental.

What is a fact about you that would surprise people the most? 

I have a twin brother.

Do you have any favourite food combos that most other people would find weird? 

Hmm... not really...

What is your favourite type of race? 

Punchy crit like races with short hills.

What is the hardest race you've ever ridden in? 

Tour of Ardèche 

Is there any kit that you'd never ride without? 

Bib shorts 😂

What are your personal top 3 cycling destinations? 

Gran Canaria, Switzerland and Andorra 

What's the best thing about being on Handsling Alba? 

The girls, it is such a lovely team environment where we all back each other and celebrate each other’s successes.

Top Tip for Aspiring Cyclists

Here's Beth's advice to pass on to anyone finding their own way into cycling:

Just enjoy the process, enjoy where you are at and acknowledge the progress you are making.
